Carnival Season is well underway in South Louisiana as well as the indulgences that come along with it. You’ve probably had your fair share of king cake by this time, whether at the office or at get togethers with friends. Instead of getting burnt out on it before Fat Tuesday, why not try out something different? We’ve put together a list of some of our favorite things for you to try out this Mardi Gras season so you can mix things up a little bit!
1. King Cake Daiquiri from Crawfish Town USA
This daiquiri gives king cake flavors a fun new twist! Made with delicious king cake vodka, it makes for a sweet ending to a meal of perfectly seasoned boiled crawfish.
2. Boudin King Cake from Twin’s Burgers and Sweets
Although it is still technically king cake, boudin king cakes have a different flavor than typical king cakes. They are filled with boudin, then topped with Steen’s syrup and pecans!
3. Traditional French King Cake from Poupart’s
Traditional French king cakes are made much differently than the ones you’re likely to pick up from the grocery store on the way home. This sweet treat is made from fluffy puff pastry and filled with almond. Poupart’s also has Mardi Gras macarons and dobash cakes with different flavors in the layers.
4. Courir de Mardi Gras Beer from Bayou Teche Brewing
This beer is Bayou Teche Brewing’s artisanal version of a French farmhouse style of ale known as Biere de Mars (March Beer). It’s the perfect pairing for parade watching, chicken chasing, or just hanging out with friends.
5. King Cake Cheesecake from Indulge
Indulge’s rich and creamy cheesecake is decorated in festive Mardi Gras colors and filled with the classic King Cake cinnamon flavor. If you’d rather have a beverage with traditional Mardi Gras flavors, you can enjoy a King Cake Cakeshake or their King Cake Latte.
6. Mardi Gras Punch from Bayou Rum
If you’re looking for a festive drink for the whole krewe, this is it! Made with grape and pineapple juice then garnished with lemons and limes, it combines Mardi Gras colors in a fresh and tasty way!
